Star sapphire value and price
There are three categories of star sapphires.
①Non-heating
②Low temperature heating
③Synthesis
These three differ greatly in value and price.
① Unheated star sapphire is the most valuable.
Those with high transparency and six stars that clearly appear are rare and expensive.
Although it is often misunderstood, you should always look at the stars under a single light.
It is good if six stars appear clearly.
No matter what kind of star sapphire it is, if there are two light sources, the star will appear doubly blurred.
If there are three light sources, there will be three layers, but this is not a problem with jewelry.
This is how the line comes out.
In sunlight, a good star sapphire will have six stars.
If the color is deep blue or deep purple, it becomes very expensive and is often put up for auction.
② If the star sapphire has a lot of inclusions, is white in color, or is pale, we recommend low-temperature heating, which involves heating it at a low temperature for several months.
In the past, heated star sapphires disappeared when they were heated, so heated star sapphires did not exist, but in recent years, new technology has enabled star sapphires to become more transparent and darker in color when heated at low temperatures.
Therefore, please note that not all star sapphires are unheated.
Heating at a lower temperature is much less valuable and cheaper.
③And the third problem is synthetic star sapphire.
Commonly called Linden Star, it is synthetic.
Stars that look strange and have strangely curved edges that stick out are synthetic.
Each pill costs from a few hundred yen to as much as 2,000 yen, but some brands sell it for 300,000 yen to 500,000 yen.
Jewelery stores in Sri Lanka, Taiwan, and Thailand, as well as at airports in Asian countries, sell them at high prices as if they were natural, but synthetics have no value, so be careful not to be fooled.
